It's definately mud season here in Maine. My three are just covered from head to hoof with mud. When they run up the pasture you can see the water and mud fly! I spent 20 minutes scrub brushing Sky's legs so I could trim his fetlocks and not have so much mud in them from the pasture. The good news is that they have rototilled the pasture so in a month or so I will just go broadcast seed and reseed it.

I worked on the ring with a drag for an hour or so this morning and it's coming along. Now if I can get hubs (the master at tractor work) out there to level off a couple of areas I should be able to start working horses soon.

I also decided to live dangerously and emailed my blacksmith that he could come put shoes on anytime now. Hope I don't live to regret that!

It was a pretty pointless project, but I cleaned the worst off.... at least from his head. The good news is the mud took a lot of hair with it. Saturday I'll have to wash his tail and put it up until this is over. I was so glad I didn't change his halter out on Sunday because that is coated too. You should see the barn driveway. I can't remember the last time they added gravel to it. It was good practice for Ace to walk through though, so we did that.

Holy Toledo it's AWESOME here. Yesterday was mid 60s, today was low 70s, tomorrow is just as promising! The ground is drying up, and the horses are shedding! Spring is creeping up on us! I have ridden the last two days and it's just been a real treat!!

Oh those temps sound wonderful, sadly it will be June before they arrive here. Oh well, enjoy!

Come June, we'll be bitching about how hot is it!

I don't think we'll ever be satisfied!

The robins arrived today at lunchtime. Right on schedule. Last year was March 12th too, but 2008 was March 6th.

I haven't seen a robin so far this year. Last year they showed up when there was still a foot of snow on the frozen ground, this year no snow and no robins.

I think the Robins might be a little screwed up this year because I saw one on February 7th here. . .
